Our Thai society has undergone a drastic change in way of life. From living in a well-balanced, stable, and peaceful community so harmoniously adjusted to natural environment with the help of eastern cultural legacy, the forced acquisition of western values, including technological and scientific development know-how has ushered us into a different materialistic community, full of depression, harshness, anxiety, and anger. Speaking of the art's circle, western influences have also seeped in and divided the original flow of artistic creation into two distinctive branches, the one still clinging to idealistic value of the old - seeking but peace of mind and unity of Nature and Life, while the other pushing forth the analyze materialistic essence and reasons by using western methodology as well as western way of thinking. Both are, however, evolving together, each searching in its own way for novel values that are more suitable for our new way of life. According to Pratuang, essence and value of Art grow out of three components: liberty of ideas, peace of mind, and outburst of wisdom. If liberated and ready both spiritually and intellectually, man would feel brave enough to face and defeat all obstacles in life while developing his own potential in order to create new and beneficial values for life in the forms of Art. However, the aim of Art never wavers from one and only crucial value - Beauty. The essence of Life, be it good or evil, is the true source wherefrom Beauty emerges through human activities. Every piece of Art, then, should be regarded as the actual summary of life as a whole. It is truly the whole, universal truth of life in the most perfect and compressed form.
